Manhattan Beach, CA (April 11, 2017) – The City of Manhattan Beach is excited to announce its 25th Annual Earth Day Concert and Celebration at Polliwog Park on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

This free, family-friendly event will celebrate the many ways to support and promote sustainable living with environmental organizations, eco-vendors and local businesses and non-profits. There will be delicious food, live music and plenty of interactive activities for all ages.

On this year’s Main Stage, local South Bay band, The Lucky Ones, will bring their unique beach rock/reggae blend and Free to Be Me will provide the opportunity for all ages to join an Earth Day Drum Circle. Also on the stage, elected officials will recognize local environmental heroes, winners of the Eco-Quiz Giveaway and recipients of the Green Business Awards.

This Earth Day Celebration will feature a new opportunity to reduce, reuse and recycle: the Earth Day Exchange, a free pop-up swap where participants can bring gently used clothing, accessories or goods and exchange them for something “new.” Donations should be clean and in working condition, and participants may bring items to the event or drop them off at the following locations:

  • City Hall (1400 Highland Ave) during business hours
    • M-Th 7:30 AM-5:30 PM
    • Fri (4/21) 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
  • Manhattan Beach Police Department (420 15th St) anytime
  • SunLife Organics, Metlox Plaza in Manhattan Beach (451 Manhattan Beach Blvd)
    • M-F 7:00 AM-7:00 PM
    • Sat-Sun 8:00 AM-7:00 PM

Items not exchanged will be donated to regional charitable organizations.

There will be plenty of chances to learn, play and grow at this celebration of sustainability. Manhattan Beach prides itself on being a leader in citywide environmental policies, like its ban on polystyrene, the Breathe Free MB campaign and more. This is a great opportunity to connect with environmental leaders in the South Bay and develop new, eco-conscious habits. More information about the celebration can be found at www.citymb.info/earthday or by contacting Lisa Ryder Moore at sustainablemb@citymb.info
