The City of Manhattan Beach is now accepting applications for the position of Executive Assistant. The current vacancy is located in the Human Resources Department. The Executive Assistant will provide complex executive, technical, and administrative support functions in support of the Human Resources Director.  This position may provide technical direction or supervision to clerical and administrative support staff, and perform other related duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate must be able to handle multiple projects, independently perform difficult and responsible work, possess excellent customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills, demonstrate initiative, a strong work ethic and a high degree of judgment and discretion. The Executive Assistant will schedule appointments, meetings, and make travel arrangements for executive staff and department managers. Monitor and coordinate the department's budget.  Assistance with preparation of agendas and staff reports is an essential function of the position. The ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in explaining and obtaining compliance with office administration practices and procedures is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School graduate or G.E.D. preferably supplemented by education, training and certification in office management, supervision, and the use of office software products.

Training and Experience: Five (5) years of responsible administrative and customer support experience is required, preferably including some lead experience. Years of college education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.  

Licenses and Certificates:

  • Ability to attain a valid California Class "C" driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
  • Type 40 words per minute, corrected
